Addison Browne, the prime minister’s half-brother, has received an extended prison sentence “after admitting to a new sex crime against a teenager,” a 13 year-old girl, Dominica News reports.
Browne is already serving time for “unlawful sexual intercourse.” He pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a second 13-year-old girl while he was on bail for his previous offence,” according to the report.
After the initial 2022 conviction, Prime Minister Gaston Browne said the case should serve as a warning, and reiterated his government’s commitment to combat sexual violence, especially against young girls. He said at the time, “let the conviction of my half-brother be a warning to all” and reiterating the determination to pursue justice for all perpetrators.”
Addison Browne is serving a 13 year sentence for the first conviction, and just received another 9 years and 4 months.
