On the eve of his meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Gaston Browne lashed out at poor Antiguans who live in the United States and struggle to send money home. He attacked his countrymen on his own official Facebook page.
A small group of Caribbean immigrants, including two from Antigua, protested Browne’s corruption and cronyism at a demonstration in front of the Organisation of American States in Washington.
Browne appeared to make fun of their posters, some of which were handwritten in Creole.
Instead of addressing his countrymen’s concerns, Browne called out the two by name – Jason Paul and Malik – and ridiculed them as “some Antiguans on food stamps.”
In a pink and purple Facebook graphic, Browne linked Jason Paul and Malik with UPP Chairwoman Gisele Isaac, UPP opposition leader Jason Pringle and Martin de Luca, an attorney for the Alfa Nero owner who is searching for the missing $10 million from Browne’s sale of the super yacht.
“Gisele Isaac, Jamale Pringle, Martin De Luca, Malik, Jason Paul, et al – where is the Alfa Nero $10M stashed? In your anuses,” Browne said, followed by laughing emojis.
In a follow-on note, Browne wrote, “The UPP and their lawyer, De Luka had some Antiguans on food stamps, defaming me in Washington today and I responded in kind.”
